Audrey Tautou
Audrey Tautou is the youngest of four children born August 9, 1976 in Beaumont Puy in Domme. The actress was encouraged by her parents, a dentist and teacher who were both instructors to follow her love in the theatre. This was in contrast her earlier ambition to be a primatologist due to the fact that she was a fan of monkeys. Her rise to stardom as a young actress quickly and was accompanied with early success. When she completed her education, she participated in the French talent-scouting television programme Jeunes Premiers. The show awarded her the Best Young Actress at the Beziers Festival of Young Actors and began her professional career acting as an actress. Though she was a student at in the Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou has distanced herself from this upbringing, stating that she's not Catholic. In addition to her acting career she tried her hand at modeling. It is her turn to be the face of L'Oreal Mont Blanc & Chanel and often called The Chanel Muse. Her photography is also a love of hers and she has been exhibiting her work in the Arles festival, under the title Superficial. Through her photos, she concentrates on fame and celebrities. The camera's lens is focused at journalists who have been scrutinising the actress following her sudden success. Audrey Tautou shot to stardom and international fame when she landed her first big role, starring as the lead in the film Le Fabuleux Destin de l'Amelie Poulain. Amelie is a international box office success and was recognized by numerous international awards ceremonies. The film is still the highest-grossing French film across the US. Following this massive success, Tautou starred in a variety of films, including British dramas like Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film Un long dimanche de fiancailles. Tautou also appeared alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
