Jennifer Garner was born on April 17, 1972, in Houston, Texas but was raised to be raised in Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner served as engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann, her mother taught at a local college. The father of her was an engineer in the chemical industry which is why she wanted to be as skilled as him. In order to pursue her dream of acting the actress decided to move to New York and try her attempt at Hollywood. She was a chef at a New York restaurant and appeared in Broadway productions. Garner's first leading role was the widely praised love story "13 going on thirty." The film starred her as the role of a teenager caught stuck in the body of an older woman of 30. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film, and they kept looking for new films together up until the time of his passing away in the year 2011. Garner was named an artist ambassador to Save the Children U.S.A. This role entails promoting education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early education. From 2014 onwards, Garner has been a part of the board of trustees of this organization, pushing for early elementary education. She is an ambassador to the Early Steps to School Success program, which teaches parents on ways to assist their children in learning.
